Greys, Greys and more Greys !!!!!!!!

Here is my progress on Fractal Bookmark 292. I absolutely love this design as it is so striking but I can't wait to finish the page and move on just to get some colour in my life !!!!!





Speaking of colour all my threads for HAED freebie Trick or Treat have arrived so I am in the process of bobbinating them all !!! (Why does that take sooo long?!?!?!). I have also bought a little treat. I fell in love with this in work the other day. It's a bit kitsch and I LOVE it, it looks good on my sewing table:

Another Crazy Finish !!!

I finished page one of Fractal Bookmark 322 !!! Yea !!!! It looks fab ...





I used a random number generator to pick the next project from my list which was the first page of HAED Freebie Trick or Treat. However I don't have all the threads to complete this so I am doing page three of Fractal Bookmark 292 whilst I am waiting for them to arrive ! I will update with this one soon.

Progress at last and some Stitchy enhancement !!!!!

Firstly I would like to thank everybody for their kinds words after my last blog post. It really meant a lot and reminded me what a wonderful community the sewing one is.

I have made more progress on Fractal Bookmark 322 page one. Not far too go now ..... amazing what you can do when you actually work on something !!!!!!





I have also been stash enhancing !!! I love the hand-dyed threads from The Crafty Kitten and I buy the limited edition ones every month they are released. The last couple of months have seen some new additions to the threads she dyes and as soon as payday arrived I just had to get them. They are so gorgeous I just had to share ....





They are yummy!!!!!! and once again fantastic service from Dawn.

An Explanation and Update !!

Its taken me a while to build up to writing this post as I wanted to keep this blog relatively free of personal things as I don't know if people are interested in that or just sewing.  However, its been two months since I last blogged and I just wanted to give a brief explanation.  A few months ago my mother's doctor discovered a lump on her thyroid.  After an inconclusive Fine Needle Biopsy it was decided that she needed half her thyroid (and Isthmus) removed in order to discover whether the lump was malignant.  This operation occurred six weeks ago, two weeks later we got the fantastic news that the lump was benign and had no suspicion of cancer.  Although we have just discovered that she will need to take medication for the rest of her life you can imagine how delighted we are that she is OK (although she is still recovering from the op).  This has been an extremely dark time for us because we lost my Grandmother (her mother) unexpectedly only two months before this lump was discovered.

Sewing is and has always been my coping and comfort mechanism but I have just not been able to settle down to any sewing and make any real progress on any project so it seemed pointless blogging and letting you see no progress at all.  In the last couple of weeks I have started getting into a groove again, just taking it slowly but I am starting to really enjoy it again.




I hope it was ok to write the above but I wanted you to know just where I have been as although I haven't been sewing myself as much, your blogs and progress have given me happiness to look through and make me still feel part of the sewing world.  Now back to the sewing so next month I will actually have a Monday Update for you !!!!!

Papillon Creations Part Nine Completed!!!

I had real fun with this part. It turned out really well. I am taking a break from this for a while now and going to complete page one of Fractal 322 before attempting part ten ...





(Sorry about the really dark photo. Looked better when I took it, next post I will put a better piccy up but you get the gist!!!)

After I completed this part I took a look at the whole design and I noticed that some of the darker Mill Hill pink beads I am using had started to lose whatever coating they had on. I know I can be a little OCD but they look terrible especially when I have invested so much time and money into this project. Therefore instead of beading as I go along, I am going to only bead the lighter ones I am using and add the dark pink at the end to try and avoid this happening, as the lighter ones seem ok. I will then go back and replace the damaged ones at the end. Annoying but I think worth it as it is such a beautiful piece!!!

Monthly Monday Round Up #2

So it's time to take a look at my Feb aims and see how I did. Here's a recap of what they were:

1. Complete parts seven, eight and nine of Papillon Creations (this will
make me only one part behind by the end of the month)
2. I used a Random Number Generator to pick the first of my Crazy
January projects to work on. It chose number ... One... meaning I
would like to complete page one of Fractal Bookmark 322

Well I didn't do too badly. I completed part seven and eight of Papillon Creations and have made a good start on part nine ....





As for Fractal Bookmark 322 I didn't make any progress because I ran out of threads but they have arrived now so I can make a start.

I also finished a restart on Fractal Bookmark 268 as I talked about in my last post ...





That's quite a bit of stitching considering I worked quite a lot of overtime this month. I have just found out that I will be working some more this month. I don't know how that will affect my stitching but I am going to make my aims as normal and hope I get lots done.

My March Goals

1. Complete parts nine, ten and eleven of Papillon Creations (this will get me up to date)
2. Complete page one of Fractal Bookmark 322
3. Make a start on my next Crazy January Challenge piece, which according to an online randomiser will be the first page of HAED freebie Trick or Treat

Bad, Bad, Blogger !!!!!

I have been a very neglectful blogger but I have been working so much that it put all my plans for Feb's sewing on the back burner. As a result I probably won't meet my monthly aims but I don't mind, at least I have worked towards them so that's progress. Here is where Papillon is at the moment. I am almost halfway through part eight...









I realised that I hadn't posted on Fractal Bookmark 268 for a very long time (almost eighteen months!!) but I decided to restart it. I didn't have enough threads to finish and the threads I bought to replace them didn't match in terms of dye batch. There was quite a bit of difference so I decided to do it again. I don't really mind as I LOVE this design and I have been able to redo the mistakes I made last time. So far I have redone the first two pages ...





And last but not least my very late TUSAL mostly made up from all the blues of Fractal Bookmark 268 !!!!





Next update will be a Monthly round up and I hope to have finished part eight of Papillon by then as well as making a start on page one of Fractal Bookmark 322.
